A 3 day private safari that starts and finishes in Kigali (1 PNV gorilla tracking permit is included in the cost)

This safari takes you to Parc National des Volcans (PNV) in the Virunga volcanoes. It offers an opportunity to track gorillas twice. Seeing some of the remaining 700 mountain gorillas is a fantastic experience. PNV has five habituated gorilla families living in the afro-montane forests on the southern slopes of the Virunga volcanoes.

In addition to gorilla tracking, PNV offers a number of other activities. These activities include: climbing the Visoke volcano; visiting the remains of the Dian Fossey Karisoke Centre, her grave, and the graves of the gorillas which she studied. The more leisurely activities include: taking a short walk to the edge of the forest to see the playful families of endangered golden monkeys, or going for walks around the picturesque villages near Volcanoes Virunga Lodge.

On safari clients stay 2 nights at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge/Gorilla Nest Hotel.

An extra night and an extra gorilla pemit can be added by paying a supplement at the time of booking.

Day 1

Met on arrival at Kanombe airport and fly by helicopter to Ruhengeri. Drive to Virunga Lodge, (allow about 45 minutes). O/N: Volcanoes Virunga Lodge/Gorilla Nest Hotel (FB)

Day 2
Go gorilla tracking in Parc National des Volcans. Tracking the gorillas through the lush forested slopes of the Virungas is a magical experience. If you are lucky you can get to the gorillas, spend an hour with them, and be back at the base in time for a late lunch! Some gorilla families however are more elusive, and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. O/N: Volcanoes Virunga Lodge/Gorilla Nest Hotel (FB).

Day 3
Visit golden monkeys in the morning. Transfer to Ruhengeri and fly back to Kanombe airport. Take your flight back home.
