Wildlife and Birds in Murchison Falls

 

A 4 day private safari which starts and finishes in Kampala. This safari can also be done on a scheduled basis. It can also be done as an extension to Classic Rwanda and Uganda.

Murchison Falls National Park with the meandering Victoria Nile and the dramatic Murchison Falls is Uganda’s largest protected area, providing a stunning semi arid habitat for a variety of wildlife including elephant, buffalo, giraffe and lion. The launch trip to the bottom of the Falls is unforgettable, both to experience this mighty river and to see the crocodiles, hippos and birds that bask on its banks. In the nearby Budongo Forest track chimpanzees and go bird watching.

On safari clients stay 3 nights at Nile Camp/Paraa.

This safari can also be done as an extension to Classic Rwanda and Uganda.

Day 1
Briefing on your safari. Depart Kampala in the morning. Visit the Rhino sanctuary (on payment of supplement) stopping at Masindi for lunch. Visit the top of the dramatic Murchison Falls, crashing through a narrow gorge. Brief game viewing in the evening. O/N: Nile Camp/Paraa (FB).

Day 2
Spend the day in the park. Game viewing north of the Nile. Later take a launch trip from Paraa to the bottom of the mighty frothy falls. Game viewing along the river is stunning, with some of the largest crocodiles left in Africa, hippos, elephants and birds, including the rare shoebill stork, basking on the banks of the Nile. Day 3
In the morning you visit the delta circuit, north of the river with its giraffe, lion and Ugandan kob. During the heat of the day relax at your lodge. Evening game drive. O/N: Nile Camp/Paraa (FB).

Day 4
An early start. Leave for Pabidi in Budongo forest for a guided nature walk to track chimpanzees. Locating the chimps is easier between May and August as fruit is more readily available. Return to Kampala (HB).
