Following consultations with the Tourism Chamber and the Rwanda Association of Tour Operators, the Rwanda Development Board have announced an amendment to the gorilla permit price increase implementation.

Update on Rwanda gorilla permit price change, 24 January 2012

There are unconfirmed reports that the gorilla permit prices in Rwanda will rise to US$750 for all new bookings for travel from 1st June 2012. We also understand that bookings from 1st June are currently not being taken, nor is any information on availability being given, so we apologise for any delay in dealing with new enquiries for travel after that date.

Volcanoes co-founder joins the board of Imbabazi Orphanage

Praveen Moman, co-founder of Volcanoes Safaris, has joined the board of Imbabazi Orphanage, Rwanda. The Imbabazi Orphanage was established by Roz Carr to care for children lost or orphaned by the Rwanda genocide of 1994. The orphanage is called Imbabazi, which means “a place where you will receive all the love and care a mother would give.”

Update on Somalia, 18 October 2011

There have been recent press reports on tension in Somalia between Kenyan forces and Somali insurgents.  As far as the situation in Uganda and Rwanda is concerned the situation remains unchanged. The activity in Somalia is geographically very distant from Uganda and Rwanda.
