Easter football matches with the VSPT!

The Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust held two football matches last weekend for the guests celebrating Easter at Kyambura Gorge Lodge. 

Kichwamba FC was taking on its fierce rival Katerera Town council and sparks certainly flew as members of the community and community leaders gathered to cheer on both sides.

As the sun beat down, both teams lined up and their captains came to the centre circle. The moment the referee blew his whistle, the tackles started flying in, sweat dripped down the players faces. Like a scene from David Attenborough's great migration, the struggle from both sides was palpable.  At the end of the game, Katerera scored 3 goals to secure the win.

The children of Kyenzaza Primary School also had a match of their own between the day students and boarding students.The victory went to the boarding students with 2 goals to 1. The team won orange football uniforms. 

Other VSPT projects at Kyambura Gorge Lodge include the Omwani Women’s Coffee Cooperative and the Omumashaka Drama and Dance Group.
